How Much Does a Mandap Cost in the USA?
What drives the price of a wedding mandap, how renting compares with buying and importing, and what to ask any seller before you pay.
Short answer: A mandap costs $6,750 to $12,600 delivered and duty paid, depending on material, size and detail. Fiberglass and floral designs are the most economical; hand-carved hardwood and crystal cost more. Every piece is made to order, so size, finish and carving change the final number, and your itemized quote shows freight, duty and delivery as separate lines.

These are starting prices in US dollars for the standard configuration. Ocean freight, US customs duty, insurance and white-glove delivery are already included. Size, finish, carving and quantity change the final number, so your quote is itemized.

Trade prices are for approved decorators, rental companies and temples. Prices are in USD and depend on freight and US duty rates at the time of order, which change; your quote confirms the exact figure.
What drives the price
- Material. Fiberglass is the most economical; carved hardwood and crystal cost more. See our material comparison.
- Size. A 16 ft mandap uses far more material and crate space than a 10 ft one.
- Detail. Hand carving, jali work and crystal drops add labor.
- Shipping and duty. Freight is priced by volume, and US duty depends on the product and the tariff rates in force when it is imported, which have changed repeatedly in recent years.
- Delivery. White-glove delivery to a venue costs more than a dock drop.
How much does it cost to rent a mandap?
Rental prices vary widely by city, by decorator and by what is included. Some decorators quote a frame only. Others include draping, flowers, a platform, delivery, setup and takedown. Ask each one for an itemized quote, find out whether delivery, setup and takedown are extra and whether the platform is included, and collect at least three quotes so you compare like with like.
Four ways to get a mandap
| Option | What you pay | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Rent from a US decorator | A package price for one event | Whether delivery, setup, takedown and the platform are included. You never own it. |
| Buy from a US shop | A price in dollars | Whether crating and freight are extra, how long it takes to make, and whether it is a real Indian mandap or a similar canopy. |
| Buy from an Indian marketplace listing | A price in rupees, usually per set, before freight | Ocean freight, US duty, customs broker, destination charges, trucking and insurance are all still to pay. |
| Buy delivered from us | Published starting prices below, then one itemized USD quote | Freight, duty and delivery are shown as lines, so you see the full cost before you reserve. |
Why prices on Indian marketplaces look low
Listings on Indian business marketplaces usually quote rupees per set at the factory, and they rarely say what the crate weighs, how big it is or how long it takes to make. They do not include ocean freight, US customs duty, a customs broker, port and destination charges, trucking to your venue or insurance. The listing price is the start of the cost, not the end. Our guide to importing a mandap from India walks through every step.
Buy vs. rent
| Scenario | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One wedding, no reuse | Rent | No upfront cost or storage |
| Two or three family weddings | Buy | Reuse spreads the cost |
| Decorator renting 10+ times a year | Buy factory-direct | Payback in a single season |
| Temple or community hall | Buy | Used all year |

Hidden costs when importing yourself
If you buy from an overseas marketplace listing, add: ocean or air freight, customs broker and importer security filing, duty, port and destination charges, trucking, insurance, and the risk of damaged goods with no recourse. Our delivered price puts all of that in one number.
